We Don't Do Everything. We Do Outdoor Living, And We Do It Well.

Friedman Construction received its Virginia contractor license in 2011. In the early years, the work included a little bit of everything — decks, fences, remodels, and general construction. Over time, one thing became very clear: the contractors who specialize consistently deliver better results than the contractors who try to do everything.

So we narrowed our focus.

Today, we specialize in decks and outdoor living spaces — including pergolas, screened porches, outdoor kitchens, patio spaces, lighting, drainage, and fire features. Our goal is to create outdoor spaces that are built to last and designed to actually be used.

We are a fully licensed and insured Virginia Class A outdoor living contractor based in Cave Spring, Roanoke County. We are a TimberTech Pro Contractor, Deckorators Certified Pro, and Westbury Certified Master Pro.

We build using multiple framing systems instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all approach. We frame tighter than minimum code requirements, protect framing with joist tape, and install fiberglass stair stringers on every stair system we build.

We no longer take on bathrooms, kitchens, or general handyman work. We also do not perform deck resurfacing or basic deck repairs because, in most cases, the existing framing is not worth building over. We'd rather tell a homeowner the honest answer than take money for something we don't believe will last.

The contractor who does everything rarely specializes in anything. We chose to specialize.

Build it once.

Build it right.

Above code.

Always.

No wood decking.

No wood railing. Ever.

No surprises.

Clear proposals and honest expectations.

Honest answers.

If we can't do your project well, we'll tell you.

A small thing we do.

When a client or friend welcomes a new baby, we send a Friedman Construction onesie along with a humorous “Future Employee of the Month” offer letter.

It’s not a marketing program. It’s simply something we enjoy doing for the people who trust us with their homes and backyards.

People remember it. We like that they do.
